Enjoy using watercolor in a fun, upbeat setting that caters to seniors! Golden Link is offering this class free of charge to registered guests, as this class is made possible through a sponsored grant from Northwest Minnesota Arts Council. Class is limited to 20 guests, and all guests must register by calling Golden Link at 218-281-3072.

Theme: Live flowers

Each guest will cut their own small bouquet that they assemble in a small vase. The bouquet will serve as the subject for the class. Bouquets and vases will be taken home by each guest after class.

We will be painting lake scenes of choice using acrylic paint on 16x20" canvas in this class. Guests will be given instruction on choosing scenes/pictures as well as basic techniques for effective use of acrylic paint. All supplies are included! Join in the fun as we capture the beauty of lakes country on canvas!

Note: We do not all paint the same picture! Bring your ideas, your photos of "your" lake, or whatever inspires you!

Calling all dog lovers! We are launching a new watercolor class that's all about the canine creatures we know and love. Bring your photos of the "fur babies," look through books and sites for fun dog pictures, or dream up whimsical dogs galore....Anything goes! You'll be given instruction on drawing and painting your furry friends as well as supplies and refreshments. Celebrate the love of dogs in an upbeat, welcoming studio and take home art that will be cherished by you and your pet friends for years! WOOF!

Learn to create beautiful lettering in this interactive, fun class! Here, you will learn to transform everyday handwriting into expressive art. This will be a hands-on session where we address pen pressure, basic strokes, and fluid letterforms using accessible tools such as pens and markers (non-nib tools). You'll leave with new knowledge of the infinite world of lettering and be able to create personalized, hand-lettered projects!

All supplies provided, along with refreshments!

Note: If you have previously taken this class (here or elsewhere), feel free to join! Lettering is a practice and having a few sessions is worthwhile in order to perfect penmanship.

Through observation and various media, participants learn to simplify complex structures into basic forms, render features like fur and scales, and convey the subject's personality.

OUTDOOR CLASS (Weather permitting): 

This is an outdoor class, provided the weather cooperates! We will meet at the parking lot next to the ranger station off County Rd. 6 right outside of Detroit Lakes and embark on an easy, short nature walk. While we stroll through the woods, we will take pictures and collect any stray branches desired to then use in our drawing class. Class will be at one of the picnic shelters by the parking lot and guests are encouraged to bring their own coffee, tea, snacks, etc. as they wish. All art supplies provided. 

In case of bad weather, the class will be held at Yellowbright Creative, 918 B Washington Ave., Detroit Lakes, MN 56501.

Back by popular demand...it's SPEED PAINTING at Clarity Wine Bar! We had so much fun with this new event in March that we are doing it again. Think speed dating, but with painting:

Each guest will have an easel and a canvas. When the timer starts, they have a set number of minutes to paint before a bell rings and they pass their painting to the person on their right. That person then paints on the canvas for a set amount of time, passes it to the right, and so on until the painting makes its way back to the original painter. We then take a bit of time to finish off the pieces before VOILA! The most interesting, unique artwork emerges! This is a very high energy, fun, laughter-filled event that you don't want to miss! Your ticket purchase includes all art supplies and instruction. Wine, mocktails, and small bites are available for additional purchase and Clarity has the best offerings around!
